Estelle Manor: English Fairytale Cotswolds Estate Reimagined

Set within a 45-acre Oxfordshire estate, Estelle Manor occupies a Grade II-listed Neo-Jacobean manor house of considerable architectural distinction — its cusped arches, carved limestone parapets, and hand-panelled reception rooms speaking quietly but insistently of a very particular kind of English grandeur. Roman and Williams executed the complete architectural and interior design of the property, collapsing past and present in a scheme that honours the craftsmanship of the building's historic fabric while making it feel unmistakably alive. The result, as the Michelin Guide observed, is "a fantastic and fanatically detailed vision of timeless country-house hospitality."

For this project, The Raj Company worked in close collaboration with Roman and Williams to develop a collection of bespoke furniture conceived specifically for the manor's layered interiors. The commission included live-edge tables whose natural, unworked forms sit in considered counterpoint to the building's formal architecture, wood-inlaid tables informed by the studio's guiding interest in 17th and 18th-century craftsmanship traditions, and a series of neoclassical and mid-century-inflected pieces that speak to the interior's richly eclectic references. Each piece was made by hand, with materiality and proportion treated as carefully as any architectural detail. Voted among the World's 50 Best Hotels, Estelle Manor is a project defined by an absolute refusal to compromise — and our furniture was made in precisely that spirit.
