Twenty miles off Panama's Pacific coast, Islas Secas is a fourteen-island archipelago that conservationist and billionaire Louis Bacon transformed into one of the world's most thoughtfully realised luxury eco-resorts. Founded on a commitment to carbon neutrality and powered entirely by the largest off-grid solar array in Panama, the resort is, as Architectural Digest observed, "a forested wonderland where the Pacific Ocean extends in all directions" — and also, crucially, "a paradigm of style." The casitas, designed by Tom Scheerer with interiors developed in collaboration with Studio Tre, combine what Scheerer himself characterises as colonial elegance with a contemporary beach sensibility: floor-to-ceiling wooden shutters, reclaimed teak, and a restrained material palette that defers entirely to the landscape beyond.

The Raj Company supplied the resort's reclaimed teak four-poster beds — made in India to Scheerer's own design specifications, their tall headboards scaled to give the open-sided casitas their sense of sheltered calm — alongside bedside tables, desks, game tables and chairs developed in close collaboration with both studios. The four-poster beds in particular are among the resort's most remarked-upon details, noted by Sleeper magazine as defining elements of the casita interiors: handcrafted pieces whose materiality and proportion speak the same language as the surrounding forest.
